Our Story
We started the new decade of 2020 with a plan to make Bali & Mallorca our twin home bases away from New Zealand - representing a departure away from all that was familiar and known to embark on an adventure into the unfamiliar & unknown. This is the recipe going forward - to follow the path less travelled.
Our jungle home has been great to us throughout 2020, but…
…the sea is calling, and we hear that call so will begin our adventures on the water in 2021!
The plan has evolved somehwhat and now incorporates Mexico & the US as additional ‘home’ bases - in early 2022 we launched Bloom School in San José del Cabo, BCS Mexico where the children are enjoying the multifarious benefits of a short commute (downstairs) and a growing network of new friends and peers at their very own learning institute. We’re very lucky to have the support of all our local partners on this project and couldn’t do it without them!
With the development of the Kando & Planetari platforms and also Seatangle we’re also nearly ready to have the set up complete for each new place we visit and be able to quickly integrate with a community, set up a school, work with local conservation groups, assist in funding their work, compensate volunteers on each project and connect them to a wider audience - now that’s impact!
Central & Sth America (now within such easy reach) are calling and we too hear that call - bring on the road trips and adventures into new lands!
bedo/\dobe is the vehicle our family will use to learn about the essentials in life - what we need, what we want, what we value & how these things intersect when we exchange with others.
Our family symbol is a stack of letters one on top of the other - b, e, d & o.
Born from a meditation on Being and Doing and then reducing and simplifying into a symbolic form.
bedo is a call to action - dobe is a call to stillness.
We want the children in our family to have the right tools to go into the world and thrive. A firm grasp of understanding how it works will be born from first-hand experience by engaging with local artisan entrepreneurs who we encounter on our journey. This platform will be used to share those experiences of learning to know what they need, what they want and what they value.
